ATP-CTP Virtual: Start from Home, Finish in the Sim

Posted on: 09/24/2025

ATP.Academy is launching a Virtual ATP-CTP option that lets you complete the entire ground-school portion online, live with our instructors – then come to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the required simulator sessions. Pre-registration is open now with a special $3,999 launch price for the first 10 applicants, and the first online class begins October 8, 2025.

Why pilots love the Virtual format

  • Save time: Ground school runs 4 days online (8 hrs/day) vs. 5 in-person days (6 hrs/day).
  • Save money: Skip the week of travel, hotels, and meals – only a short 2–3 day trip is needed later for sims.
  • Train from anywhere: Join live via Zoom with interactive Q&A and real-time instructor support.
  • Same FAA certificate: Your completion certificate is accepted for the ATP (ATM) written exam, just like our on-site course.
  • Flexible scheduling: Book your 10 hours of simulator within 60 days after ground school – often on weekends.
  • International-friendly: No U.S. visa or TSA required for the online ground school, you’ll only need them for the sim visit.

Give yourself maximum flexibility without pausing your life. This track is designed for students who want the ATP-CTP ground school online and simulator sessions scheduled when it’s truly convenient.

Scheduling built around you

We schedule sim sessions to fit your preferred dates, the only requirement is a training pair (two students in the session). Our team will match you with a partner, timing is mostly weekends, so you typically don’t need to take time off work. We can align sessions with your holiday dates, subject to pairing availability.

Live, instructor-led learning (not a video course)

Classes run live online with real-time interaction.

Students must keep cameras on, participate, and ask questions.

Simply “joining Zoom and stepping away” is not permitted – this is an interactive, guided experience.

Tuition and travel savings

Same tuition as our on-site program.

Save on lodging: instead of ~6 hotel nights, plan for 1–2 nights if your sim runs on Saturday and/or Sunday.

Payment plan

Installments available: $2,000 to reserve, $2,000 due before your simulator session.

The maximum installment window is 60 days. If you don’t complete within 60 days, your ground school enrollment expires and must be repurchased before rescheduling.

Regulatory note

TSA clearance is not required for this track.

How the Virtual ATP-CTP works

  • 30 hours live online ground school over 4 days (topics include high-altitude ops, UPRT, turbine engines, air carrier ops, CRM, and more).
  • 10 hours of in-person simulator at our Fort Lauderdale facilities: A320 FTD + A320 Level D full-motion sessions.

Ready to train on your schedule? Choose the ATP-CTP Online and we’ll coordinate the rest, including pairing and SIM slots.

Who should choose which?

  • Choose Virtual if you want to lower costs (no hotel for a week), study from your home country, and slot sims on weekends or within your schedule over the next 60 days.
  • Choose In-Person if you prefer a single on-site week with classroom and simulator all completed back-to-back in Fort Lauderdale.

Notes for international pilots

Begin immediately from your home country with the online ground school. Plan a short U.S. visit later for simulator sessions (visa + TSA required only for that part). It’s the fastest, most cost-effective path to your ATP written eligibility.

FAQ

The Virtual ATP-CTP track lets you complete all 30 hours of ATP-CTP ground school live online from home, and then travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida only for the required 10 hours of A320 simulator training. It’s a fully FAA-approved ATP-CTP course that satisfies the requirements to sit for the ATP (ATM) written exam, just like our on-site program.

The program is split into two parts:

  • Online ground school: 30 hours over 4 consecutive days (about 8 hours per day) delivered live via Zoom with our ATP-CTP instructors.

  • In-person simulator: 10 hours of simulator at our Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport training center, using both an Airbus A320 FTD and an A320 Level D full-motion simulator.

This blended format lets you do the academics from anywhere, then complete the hands-on jet training in a short, focused trip.

It is 100% live and instructor-led, not a video course. You join scheduled live sessions, keep your camera on, and actively participate in discussions and Q&A. “Joining Zoom and stepping away” is not allowed – this is a guided, interactive ATP-CTP classroom, just delivered online.

We schedule simulator sessions around your preferred dates:

  • Sims are usually booked on weekends so you don’t have to take a full week off work.

  • You can complete your 10 hours of simulator within 60 days after finishing ground school.

  • We pair you with another student (training pair), and our team coordinates pairing and sim slots for you.

Yes. The Virtual ATP-CTP program issues the same FAA ATP-CTP completion certificate as our in-person course. That certificate is accepted by testing centers for the ATP (ATM) written exam, fulfilling the regulatory pre-requisite to sit the exam.
